About ASME-NTU Student Section
We are a group of enthusiast student from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the College of Engineering. Our aim is to bridge the engineering students with the engineering industry and at the same time abide by the vision of ASME to promote engineering to students from all levels of education. Through this, members get to have an idea about what are they going to face in the future. Our committee consists of engineering students from year 1 to year 4 students from the College of Engineering.
Among the activities tha are organized all along in this society are like industrial visits to places like Shell, Keppel Singmarine, ST Marine, ABB and Senoko Power just to name a few. With these visits, we hope to be able to bring students out of the classroom to understand more about the real work life and to network with people of the industries so that they will be prepared for the future.
Besides that, we also have our yearly main event which is the Mech Challenge competition which is open to only Junior College and polytechnic students in Singapore. These students will come down to NTU and compete among themselves to build items such as gliders or structures depending on the theme of the year. The main purpose of this event is to bring out the interest of students in engineering at JC and polytechnic level and at the same time expose them to the life in university while competing.
For NTU students, events such as workshops, seminars, talks and so on to learn Matlab, CAD and to find out more about company with engineering related field are also organized to help the university students to learn more skills and acquire more work opportunity chances.
We hope that at the same time planning these amazing and yet educational events for engineering students, we ASME NTU as a team will be able to improve ourselves both in education and self development at the same time.
