Site Visit to Singapore LTA Downtown Line

Downtown Line (DTL) is a project currently handled by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), which is a Singapore government company. It will be the fifth Mass Rapid Transit line in Singapore, with the first stage of construction commencing on February 12, 2008.When fully completed, the line will be about 40-km long with 33 stations. It will be a fully-automatic and driverless system similar to the North East Line and the Circle Line, and will be fully underground. The line will serve the Bukit Timah area and eastern Singapore and bring commuters to the new downtown area. The line is coloured brown in the rail map.

We will be visiting the Downtown Line 1 (DTL1) which has 6 stations in total and its expected date of completion is in year 2013.

Time:   2pm-5pm (gather in front of TCT-LT at 12.45pm)
Date:   29th October 2009 (Thursday)
Venue: Bugis
Fees:   Free for CEE/ENE/MS students (round way transportation provided)
Limited Vacancies: 25 (first come first served)
Programme Flow:
1.Presentation and briefing by the LTA engineer
2.Go down to Downtown Line construction sites
