Come join us for a guided nature walk through our campus on 7 March 2009 and discover the little known – NTU’s secrets revealed!

Date: 7 March 2009
Meeting Point: Canteen B (South Spine)
Time: 8.00am – 12.30pm
Bring: Cap, insect repellent, sunscreen, water, camera, snacks
Wear: Casual attire and comfortable shoes for walking

There will be a picnic at the end of the walk.

南大校园真美啊～最近这几天喇叭树开花了，开的好艳，很有樱花的感觉，号召去拍照
这周正赶上Earthlink组织南大校园的nature walk，可以借这个机会去看看！

小小抛砖引玉一下~~植物简介：
喇叭树/号角树　　Cecropia peltata L.
　　俗名： 蚁栖树、聚蚁树、Trumpet Tree、Snake Wood
　　科别： 桑科
　　介绍： 呈盾状形的掌状裂叶，成熟的叶片直径达30公分以上，约有9至11裂，叶柄长约20至30公分，叶表粗糙、叶背色泽较偏淡白色并披有绒毛，叶片外型像早期留声机的筒状喇叭，尤其从树荫下抬头仰望硕大叶片在阳光照射下叶、脉的透空的感觉，特别亮丽而深具美感；雌雄异株，花序为腋生。特别的是植株的生长迅速，气生根非常奇特而且发达。
　　号角树的支持根细长且生长快速，会随著树型的改变而生长，若是树型偏向某个方向，此方向的支持根数量便会增多，以免主干因重心不稳而倒伏。
　　号角树的树干及枝条中空，经常有毒蚁居住，砍下来的枝条可以制成吹奏的乐器。
