Chinese Orchestra Introduction

The Nanyang Technology University Chinese Orchestra was founded in 1983, and has now become one of the the most active sub-clubs in NTU Cultural Activities Club.

The priority of the orchestra is to provide Chinese Music lovers in NTU a conducive environment to pursue their musical interest and also to propagate this interest among the NTU population.

Since its formation, NTUCO has been growing steadily under the tireless efforts of its conductors. The orchestra has also participated in numerous performances both within and out of campus.

Apart from minor performances, the orchestra also holds major annual public performance -- Transient Reminiscences.

In the summer of 2006, NTUCO flew to Beijing, China for a cultural exchange with both Tsinghua University and Renmin University. The orchestra's public performance at Tsinghua University recieved good appraisal form the audience in Beijing.

In Dec 2008, NTUCO went to Hong Kong for an exchange programme with 3 universities, namely,  HK Science and Technology University, HK Baptist University and HK Polytechnic. The orchestra had a joint performances with all three universities and experienced a wonderful cultural journey.

The orchestra strongly believes that under the baton of Mr Ng Seng Hong, NTUCO will definitely soar to new heights.
