NTU GSC in association with EURAXESS links ASEAN organised ‘Euro-Connection’, the first Career Talk in the GSC Corporate Connections series for 2013-14 meant exclusively for graduate students on 30 August 2013. This talk provided an opportunity to graduate students to hear from and interact with Corporate leaders from Singapore and their European connections.

The program was opened by Mr.  Vivek Manoharan, President of the Graduate Student Club, who told of the GSC and the career focussed events and platforms planned for the academic year.  Mr. Alexandre Gentot, Chairman of the HR Committee of the European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and Vice President of the Human Resources team Asia Pacific of Gemalto opened the series with his talk on ‘Starting a career with a European company in South East Asia: A view from the HR committee of European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore’. Mr. Ulf Schneider, President of the Singapore Semiconductor Association and Managing Director of Lantiq Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. introduced the Semiconductor Industry in Singapore calling it a ‘World of Opportunities’. Mr. Yeo Eng Sheng, an alumnus of NTU and Director HR of South East Asia Oceania and Taiwan of Gemalto spoke specifically about opportunities in Gemalto. The last speaker for the day was Ms. Susanne Rentzow-Vasu, Regional Representative of EURAXESS Links ASEAN. Shw spoke about how EURAXESS can facilitate researchers to be mobile with focus on the opportunities in Europe. Ms. Lai Wahi Yi, Director of the Singapore Semiconductor Association was also present during the event.

The event witnessed active participation of over 250 graduate students who interacted with the speakers during the Q&A sessions as well as the focussed networking session over finger food.
