“Music from the Hearts 2003” is the special project oragnised by
NTU Symphonic Band this year. This is a joint charity concert to raise funds
for the Community Chest. This is the 4th charity concert NTUSB has organized.
On the 12th July 2003, “Music from the Hearts 2003” was held at
The Esplanade Concert Hall. The band was very proud to have Her Excellency,
Mrs S R Nathan to grace the concert as the Guest-of-Honor.
This concert has marked another significant milestone in the history of NTUSB.

participation in the 13th and 14th World Music Competition (WMC) in 1997 and
2001, namely Russian Christmas Music, by Alfred Reed, and Fantasy Variations
on a theme by Niccolo Paganini, by James Barnes.
This concert also features two guest bands – VJC Symphonic Band and NYP
Symphonic Band. All 3 bands are under the guidance of Lao Shi. A total of more
than 200 participants were involved in this charity concert.
After seven months of hard practices, the members’ efforts finally paid
off as the concert was well received by the audience. The band has also managed
to raise more than $10,000 for the Community Chest through ticket sales, advertisements
and donations.
