KL ATP Trip - 03.10.2009/04.10.2009

This is yet another time a tennis tournament being held so close to home.Traffic jam welcomed us to the heart of Kuala Lumpur, but it barely affected us. Our two days trip in KL then started with a search for lunch; walking over a not-so-nice smelling "lorong" before finnaly settled in the Kenny Rogers of Berjaya Times Square. Come evening, excitement filled the bus as it headed to Stadium Putra for the second Semi-Final Match: Fernando González of Chile Vs. Fernando Verdasco of Spain. It was truly a test for us when the bus driver could not find a way into the stadium.Smile at Federal :)

After a series of photo taking inside and outside of the stadium, the match started. González was cute. Having broken a racket, he pulled out some entertaining acts that certainly eased the tension. Unfortunately a straight set game took the crowd's favourite, Verdasco, into the Finals. Our day ended with a walk on the night streets of KL, well-spiced with a tinge of light suppers along the way.

Morning of the second day, we tried to enjoy the city as much as we can before leaving for Finals at noon; This time for the Finals: Fernando Verdasco Vs. Nikolay Davydenko of Russia. There, we witnessed how consistent Davydenko is, and certainly, how hard he can hit the balls. Another straight set game (6-4 7-5) put Davydenko as the KL ATP Champion.
