Gunung Bujang Melaka & Mt. Ophir [AY2015/16]

During the recess week, our adventurers embark on 2 different trips in Malaysia.

Gunung Bujang Melaka & Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia [1 – 4 March 2016]

Mount Bujang Melaka is an oval-shaped hill located within the areas of the Kinta Valley. With a soaring height of about 1230 metres above sea level, this ‘mountain range’ is best viewed from Kampar and its immediate areas. In fact, it dominates the eastern skies of Kampar, and is the familiar backdrop of the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Perak campus.

There is a small tarmac road leading to a settlement halfway up the mountain, before hiking trails take over amidst dense jungle. Since 2013, the Perak International Mount Bujang Melaka Challenge was held here where runners have the opportunity to make their way up the mountain, and even to its very top. Those who have been to the top have reported sightings of montane forests at the peak; and that views over the lands below near the trig station were limited.

Mount Ophir, Malaysia [27 – 28 February 2016]

Mount Ophir, or more commonly known by its Malay name, Gunung Ledang, is a mountain situated in the Gunung Ledang National Park located in Ledang District (northwestern Johor), Malaysia. The summit is located between the border of Muar and Malacca. Standing at 1,276 m (4,186 ft), with a clear trail leading to the peak, the mountain is a popular destination among amateur climbers. Mount Ophir is also the 64th highest mountain in Malaysia and arguably the most climbed mountain in the country.

72KM Leap Rider [AY15/16]

[29th Feburary 2016]

Leap Rider was Ads9rts’ third event for the year. As the name may imply, it was a night cycling activity on Leap Day itself! The adventurous 72km route began from Pasir Ris to Marina Barrage and back. There were a few supper points along and the participants were able to enjoy the beautiful city lights along the route while cycling with like-minded friends!

We hope everyone had an wonderful leap day with us. Thank you Red Bull for the energy boost we needed to finish the route!

Stay active, stay adventurous!
