On 1 January 2016, Tr9k was already on its way to for their first overseas expedition of the year. They scaled Mount Pulag in Philippines over the course of 3 days and 2 nights.
Standing at 2922 meters above sea level, Mount Pulag is the highest peak in Luzon, the third highest in the Philippines. One of the most well-maintained “premier” national parks in the country, it is home of the nation’s rare and endangered species of flora and fauna.
For the remaining days of their trip, they returned back to the bustling capital of Philippines, Manila for some good recreation time they well deserved!
Their next trek trip will be to Gunung Bujang Melaka and Gopeng, Perak from 1 – 4 March 2016. Check out our trip booths on 2 and 11 February at the North Spine Linkway for more details!
We recently held our 2D1N Campout event at Pulau Hantu. For the second year running, this year’s Campout is jointly organised by FOOT’16 and Tr9k. Despite its intimidating name, Pulau Hantu is a beautiful and idyllic getaway for many. It is actually made up of two islets: Hantu Besar and Hantu Kecil. The island still preserves a rich variety of marine life which is an eye opener for city dwellers like us.
To get the different subcommittee members to know one another, the subcommers are grouped into Da Bao, Dou Shao Bao, Nai Huang Bao and Xiao Long Bao which are the names of the different steamed buns. The groups played a round of station games before coming together for a fun and showery mass game.
After that, some of the subcommers had a go at the jetty jump before beginning our traditional outdoor cooking for dinner.
It is definitely the best way to spend the first weekend of the new semester!
