Park the Stress Away

On 18th September, the Psychology Society Exco members participated in PARK(ING) Day 2015 and it was a success!
PARK(ING) Day is an annual worldwide event where community members transform parking spots into temporary public spaces. Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority and National Parks, the first PARK(ING) Day took place in 2013.

This year, the society decided to take part and transformed a parking lot along Waterloo Street into a space to raise awareness about mental health in the area of stress management. This included an interactive activity where visitors tried their hand at making their own stress balls! Overall, we are proud to say we managed to reach out to around 50 people from all walks of life.

In addition, our project would not have been successful if not for the Community Health Assessment Team (CHAT) who collaborated with us and generously provided us with all the resources we needed. CHAT is an organisation made up of a team of mental healthcare professionals which helps young people with their mental health concerns, aiming to promote mental health awareness.

We would like to thank CHAT for their support, and everyone who contributed to make this project a success.

Stress? Just squeeze!
