Are you the 1 with the Ones in you?
Many students in unis, polys and JCs dream of setting up their business after completing their education. Whether it be money, name or fame that they are after, Zero To Millionz aims at giving these budding entrepreneurs a taste of what the real business world is like and what strategies to use to make their product popular. A major event conducted by SIFT; it comprises of students from
NTU, NUS, SMU, all the Polytechnics as well as Junior
Colleges such as Raffles Junior College, Hwa Chong
Junior college, National Junior college and
Anglo-Chinese Junior College the various polytechnics and junior colleges.
The competition will be conducted in 2
phases:
Phase 1:
The first phase of this 2 tier event will
require students to answer a questionnaire
consisting of both multiple choice and short answer
questions, testing their knowledge and aptitude
regarding various essential aspects of entrepreneurship
and business. These areas include Finance,
Accounting, Business, Marketing, and Information
Technology and Creativity sections specifically. We
will be setting up booths in the various institutes
where students will be able to register for the
competition and complete the questionnaire. This will be
held throughout the 2 weeks from
23rd January to 8rd
February 2007.
Phase 2:
We will short list teams based on the
first phase of the competition and they will then go
through to the second phase in teams of upto four. This
phase of the competition is to be held on 24th
February on a much larger scale. It is
comprised of 2 rounds, extensively testing skills in the
various departments in which an entrepreneur must be
impeccable to be successful.
Prominent judges from a number of fields
in the corporate world such as Innovation, Banking and
Finance, Education and Economics, Business Consultancy
and Investment, and Licensing and Commercialization will
be judging this final phase. This will thus give the
participants an opportunity to interact with some of the
biggest names in Singapore’s business world. Being
judged by these professionals will provide the students
with valuable insight as to how exactly to mould
themselves into successful entrepreneurs.
The second phase of this competition will
be organized as follows:

Round 1: Venture
Financing Fair (1hr 30min)

This is a more interactive
round in which groups will have to come up with a
product based on specific guidelines given to them.

Teams will sell these
products to the judges who will award them points
according to how well their marketing strategies and
product idea have been developed.
Ø
Round 2: Elevator Pitch
(1hr)
·
Teams will be given a
case-study and, depending on the problem, present a
solution to the judges.
·
Teams will be awarded
points according to firstly, the solutions the teams
have come up with and secondly, presentation style.
Ø
Prize Presentation
(15min)
·
The top 3 teams will be
presented with prizes and all participants will be
presented with certificates of participation
·
After the prize
presentation, teams will able to mingle with the judges
and other teams from the various different institutions,
thus providing participants with a valuable opportunity
for networking.
ZTM thus proves to be a wholesome experience for all the participants, firing their zeal to make it big as entrepreneurs some day.
