Congratulations to Team FlexiUS for emerging 1st R

Congratulations to Team FlexiUS for emerging 1st Runner Up in the Nexia Business Plan Case Challenge 2022!

The competition aims to nurture local entrepreneurs by supporting aspiring students in their entrepreneurship journey through mentorship and peer learning. In this year's edition, the theme was sustainable innovation, specifically looking at the sustainability of the innovation behind the business plan to generate long term social and environmental benefits while creating economic profits for the business.

Team FlexiUS, comprising Business Solutions Associates Jonathan Tan Qi Yun (ACBS, Y2), Liu Jiahui (ACBS, Y2), Edward Liew (ACBS, Y2), and Keston Mah Jun Feng (ACC, Y2) as well as team member Kevin Yeo (ACBS, Y2), finally won the 1st Runner Up position after four weeks.

Through the challenge, the team navigated through the unfamiliar waters of ESG and sustainable innovation together, and were inspired by each other’s determination and creativity. The team would like to thank Nexia's Group CEO Henry Tan, and Guest Judge Spirit of Enterprise for being such kind hosts and also for the advice and support throughout.

Congratulations to Team North Hill Institute for emerging as 1st Runner Up in the Medical Grand Challenge 2022!

The aim for this grand challenge was to develop a business case for medical start-up StratifiCare. This business case aimed to better analyse the use case for a colorectal cancer biomarker with the ability to provide both prognostic and predictive functions, address the market demand for it and develope an expansion plan to launch this testing technology out to the market.

North Hill Institute, comprising Business Solutions Associates Prasad Shubhangam Rajesh (REP, Y2) and Lim Sui Kiat (REP, Y2) along with other fellow Y2 REP students and a Y5 NUS Med student, attribute their win to the level of detail and ingenuity in creating a robust plan for the product launch.

Having to grasp complex medical concepts and interview key opinion leaders within the industry was a big challenge for the team, which equipped them with valuable skills and experience as they conceptualize their idea and understand the steps taken to launch such a niche yet important product.

Finally, the team would like to thank their tech mentor from StartifiCare for the guidance and mentorship throughout the competition.

Congratulations to Team Vitality & Company for emerging Champions at the Medical Grand Challenge 2022 hosted by Yong Yoo Lin School of Medicine!

In the challenge, students of various backgrounds collaborate to pitch a start-up idea in the medical industry at the end of 5 months.

Vitality & Company, comprising Business Solutions Associates Christian Lim (REP, Y2) and Marcus Hooi (REP, Y2) along with other team members believe their simple yet effective solution was what brought them the Champions’ title. Christian also added on that it was especially a valuable experience to learn how to develop an effective product which solves a healthcare issue present in society.

The team would like to thank Dr. Yadara and his team, as well as the mentors for teaching them the necessary skillsets required to tackle the challenge.

Congratulations to Woon Advisory for emerging Champions for the SMU Fintech Case Competition 2022!

The competition challenged participants to reimagine the future of E-Commerce using Web3 within the span of 2 months, which tested their technical knowledge on disruptive technology and its application to everyday life.

Woon Advisory, comprising of Business Solutions Associate Eliel Simatupang (BUS, Y3) and team members Jae Lee Wei Ren (NUS, Y4), Koh Kah Xuan (NUS, Y4), Koh Kai Jie (NUS, Y4) emerged on top among over 50 other teams. The team believes that their ability to synthesize knowledge from multiple fields to create a multi-faceted solution played a great role in the win. Through the experience, the team learnt to identify ideas which are most important and truly address the underlying issues or are best positioned to take advantage of key opportunities.

The team thanks the panel of judges including Richard Koh, Jason Tay, Bindumadhavan Anand & Emily Wong, as well as their mentor, Nande Khin.

Congratulations to Spade Capital for emerging Cham

Congratulations to Spade Capital for emerging Champions in the IBC M&A Case Competition 2022!

Organised by IBC NTU, teams from all Singapore universities were invited to crack a case scenario on Singtel and propose a M&A strategy and pitchbook to convince the judges. The top 4 finalist teams were selected to present to a panel of four judges which included the Chief Financial Officer from Una Brands, and Assistant Vice President from Temasek. Teams had to make their case with a slide deck and financial model within a time span of one week.

Spade Capital, comprising Business Solutions Associate Liu Jia Hui (Year 1, ACBS), Business Solutions Associate Kok Yu Rong Martin (Year 2, ACBS), Lim Ding Jie (Year 2, ACBS) and Wong Shi Han (Year 2, ACBS) emerged Champions. The number of competitors was unannounced for this competition.

A key challenge cited by the group was that it was difficult to find dissect the business structure of SingTel to find a suitable acquisition target that could synergise well with current and future operational plans. Fortunately, the team overcame this through internship experiences and resourceful analysis of past deals to get a strong grasp of industry trends. Team member Jia Hui believes that it was the group’s adaptability in problem-solving and confidence in pitching that won them the title.

The team would like to thank NTU IBC, the panel of judges and other teams, from whom provided many learning insights in different ways. Team leader Shi Han concludes: “We are very pleased with the outcome, all of us have picked up the intricacies of M&A. I would like to commend my teammates for their efforts and unwavering support throughout the competition. On behalf of Spade Capital, thank you judges and the organising committee for this enriching experience!”.
